STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths)
THE STEM PROGRAMME SHOWCASES THE LINKS BETWEEN STEM AND OUR WIDER NATURAL WORLD, OTHER CURRICULUM AREAS AND OUR PERSONAL LIVES, ENCOURAGING YOUNG PEOPLE TO EXPLORE A STEM FUTURE.
Our STEM programme is available for Primary and Secondary school learners, with day visits and multi-day programmes on offer throughout the year. Alongside this we also offer CPD for professionals, and family days and holiday clubs for our local community. To see what is on offer now, visit our booking page. STEM Education Booking Site.
We deliver Primary and Secondary programmes on the following themes: Aerospace, Green Energy, Environmental Science and Sustainable Design, allowing pupils to follow our progression pathways from age 5 to 18.
Our Primary programmes cover the Curriculum for Excellence, supporting non-specialist primary teachers to deliver the STEM school curriculum. Our early Secondary programmes showcase how the skills and knowledge picked up in school STEM subjects are relevant to real world challenges and opportunities, encouraging young people to stick with STEM subjects at school regardless of their passions and ambitions. Our late Secondary programmes are multi-day Skills Weeks that allow learners to experience several different jobs and skills relevant to their chosen industry, explore the variety of pathways to a career in that industry and achieve accreditation in preparing for work.
STEM principles underpin our educational activities across the Estate, with STEM being a vital part of all of our education programmes from Farming and Rural Skills to Textiles. In this way our STEM curriculum works in Harmony with other areas of The King’s Foundation education offering.
Our enthusiastic funders, partners and supporters in various STEM industries such as energy, technology and aerospace assist us in design and delivery of our curriculum, bringing young people together with real STEM professionals.
